INDIANAPOLIS – February 8, 2017 – Distinguished recipients of this year's LEAD awards were named for outstanding achievements in leadership development and programs at the LEAD2017 forum held at the Music City Center, Nashville. Vera Bradley placed in the top 10 out of 150 candidates, awarded “Best Use of Classroom/Traditional Training” for Leaders by Design, a multifaceted and experiential 12-month program for leaders. Developed and branded in 2015, Leaders by Design serves as the umbrella for all of Vera Bradley’s leadership development programs and includes components such as workshops, organizational business cases, a 360-degree assessment, and reinforcement. In collaboration with FlashPoint, the program has seen a 275% positive change in reassessment scores.
Measuring return on investment is a primary component of the program. Measurement tools include The Leadership Practices Inventory® assessment and reassessment to monitor leadership growth in key behaviors. In the most recent program 92% of the individuals who completed the reassessment experienced an increase in their average observer score in all five leadership practice areas.

Award recipients are selected based on both an application or nomination process as well as voting. The voting was completed by users of the leadership program and was promoted by the nominees as well as through social media campaigns.
